If I bought a MacBook, would I be able to run Windows- platform videogames?

you can play them, if you run both systems in your macbook.

WoW works on macs, without bootcamp. Other than that, most other games should work as long as they meet other specifications.

When I got a Mac I had to go and buy all the Mac versions of my games.

Yes, bootcamp would allow you to run them. You should get the aluminum Macbook if you intend to game on it, or even the Macbook Pro because they have good graphic cards.
Just remember to grab the free printer Apple gives you when buying a new macbook or macbook pro:
