Andrew

i dont rele believe that any of those are forms of art. videogames are rele made to be fun. some try to be artsy, but they end up being bad

Lillie

Videogames are more artistic than either movies or TV in many cases. The artwork, the storyline, and the music are very professional. They are also more likely to numb the user to the violent content due to the participatory nature of the gaming.

Of course games should be rated, and content should be available to review prior to purchase. For example, WHY is it rated R? Often, that makes a difference.

I would personally be ecstatic if movies, TV, and video games were banned. It is all a huge waste of time that could be better spent reading, and money that could be better spent feeding the millions of starving people in the world.

Patricia

I totally agree with you. Heck, I'm 42 and love most of today's games as well as the older school ones.
After seeing many of the new games of today, the story lines, and graphics, one could only reason that yes, they are a form of artistic expression.

As far as the age appropriate thing? There again, it is the PARENTS responsibility to make sure the more mature games, movies etc. don't end up in the hands of a 12 year old. I won't play some of mine like DOOM 3, Half Life 2, or FEAR in front of my 2 year old. I just don't want him to hear the language or see the violence.

Ruben

I believe it should be treated just like movies, television, music; all of those things because that is how the government is treating it. Putting these ratings on video games just like they do on movies and music. Video games aren't just games, to some people they are a form of lifestyle, and if it can be a lifestyle it can definitely be an artistic expression

Betty

They pretty much have to be -- they are protected by the same copyright laws, they contain audio-visual content designed to inform and entertain -- about the only thing that sets them apart from "passive" media is their interactive nature.

And that's a very dangerous line to start drawing in terms of what can be regulated and what cannot.
